I think that money really is Satan's most evil and most successful invention. The fact that I pretty much have no money is the biggest obstacle for me in, like, almost every single area of my life. If I could just get my hands on, say, two million dollars, I could take steps to solve most of my problems and some problems that belong to people I love. I could get health insurance. I could go to the dentist on a regular basis. I could stop worrying about figuring out what the hell to do with my life right away. I could actually see my friends once in a while. I could get back into therapy. I could donate more money to St. Jude's. I could fix our house (the RIGHT way this time). I could get a decent literary agent. Money. Solves. Everything.

And that's why it's the most evil thing ever. Because most people don't have any. Just like me.

Is it money, or the absolute reliance on it? The fact that we have come to so desperately rely on something so inanimate frightens the shit out of me. This one concept is the entire structure of our culture, the very foundation and fabric of the masses. Forget the Constitution, forget the Bill of Rights, justice, compassion...it all boils down to the Green, the $$$$$. Must we love it so much? Why did we get rid of bartering? I think bartering should come back. Give the dentist free meals on Friday for the rest of his life in exchange for dental visits? That would be neat.
